After a small ceremony at home on Saturday, we arrived for Sunday’s reception at the Fountainhead in New Rochelle. After Friday’s beautiful Sangeet, we were not at all surprised by the beautiful decor for the reception, nor Sadia’s gorgeous gown.
Planner: Shirin at Shehnaai Studio
Venue: the Fountainhead
Entertainment: DJ Kucha Company
Flowers: Arcadia Floral
Video: Jivko
Food: Cafe Spice & Unlimited Creations
on to the images! I’ll start with my favorite image of the day

we played with the window light in an unused reception room

first dance

everyone enjoyed more special dances

and Sadia’s brother had an entertaining breakdance as well!

and then we drove to Sadia and Yusha’s apartment with the rest of their family for another traditional ceremony

Friday we photographed Sadia and Yusha’s Sangeet at Akbar. We really had quite an amazing team of vendors working together to put the event on, and it was an incredibly beautiful Holud.

Just a quick peek before I run off to the reception!

Also known as, a trip down Memory Lane… I laugh as I look at the past of my photography business. Sorry about the broken images. I have no control over what the Way Back Machine remembers! Obviously, the first sites were all Britney Photography before I changed my business name to Turn Loose the Art.
My website as of October 2003, which is the first time the Way Back Machine archived my site.

January 2005

February 2006 – Logo change!

February 2007 – the splash page

September 2007 – it appears none of the archives were with images during this entire time period, and the wbm really doesn’t like the bludomain sites

I started the Turn Loose the Art site for just portraits. The first archive is October 2006

August 2007 – the Into the Darkroom website also didn’t work so well with WBM

November 2007 – current

Sometimes, there’s just a little extra pressure at a wedding. You know, like when both the bride and groom are also wedding photographers! Elissa and Brian met at WPPI two years ago and married this past Saturday, and I was honored to photograph their day. So yes, this is a monster of a blog post… for two photographers! (more photos added at end 8.49pm monday)

Isn’t Elissa absolutely stunning?

I always tell clients, I’ll make a portrait anywhere with great light!

it was kind of windy out there on the Mid-Hudson Bridge…

and this, maybe my favorite image of the day

watch the little one in the center, there

nothing like making your own entertainment, huh?

Congrats to Brian and Elissa!

So, prepare for this monster blog post. I had such a great time at Tyler and Jill’s wedding in Prinsburg and Willmar, Minnesota. First, I kind of grew up with Tyler and he second shot weddings with me for about a year, so of course this wedding was more personal for me. Jill’s family is so incredibly warm and welcomed everyone in immediately. The result? Such a lovely weekend!
I was slightly nervous about the wedding, oddly terrified I’d end up shooting in a blizzard. As it turned out, it was a beautiful, sunlit day in the high teens. There actually was very little snow around, so I went scouting for a good shooting location since Jill really wanted some snowy photos. I’m happy I succeeded there!
Photographer note: I challenged Dave Cheung of Quikeys to a little dare during the WPPI tradeshow, and about half of these images were processed by him at the Quikeys booth. I’ve been using the Quikeys system since October and love it!
On to the photos… all 31 of them!

I absolutely love this image of Jill!

Tyler and Jill having a moment and seeing each other for the first time before the ceremony

then on to some portraits

I found this copse of trees a few minutes down the road from the church, and so glad I did!

I like this rearview mirror grab for some reason that I can’t quite pinpoint

then straight into the ceremony in Prinsburg

Tyler and Jill’s friends Jarvis and Abasa provided the music for the processional

and the reception

Just a little sneak peek for now since I’ll be traveling for another week. Congrats you two!

Chris and Hillary’s Marvimon wedding has just been featured on the ISPWP website! I’m pretty happy to be a member of the International Society of Professional Wedding Photographers, because all the members take wedding photography seriously. I can’t wait to see the results of the latest contest to see if anything I entered placed!

I am now contributing to the Modern Photographers blog! It’s a great collection of images from some very talented photographers, so check it out!

My friend Desiree also asked me to second shoot on Jessica and Adam’s wedding at the Mezzanine in Newark, NJ. It’s a great vintage venue, and Jessica designed a beautiful fall wedding at the former bank.
Jessica and Adam chose to see each other before the ceremony, so we arranged a first site for them at the hotel.

And Jessica with her parents waiting (patiently) to follow into the processional

They had a beautiful chuppah between the art deco pillars of the bank hall

Isn’t the old mail box so adorable? (Not to mention Jessica’s gestures!)

This might be one of my favorite dancing shots ever:

It’s a slightly less traditional toast shot, but the expressions are so great. I love the way Adam and Jessica looked at each other while their parents toasted them.
