Tori’s Senior Photos

Yesterday I got to shoot my youngest sister’s Senior Portraits! We went down to Laguna Beach and wandered around downtown for a little while before moving on to the beach. The almost-overcast light down at the beach was nice, and we had a fun time downtown, too. I’m not going to say much more than that, since I’m obviously biased…

Christmas ordering deadlines!
It might only be the end of August, but it’s time to start thinking about Christmas orders and due dates!
Deadlines this year are as follows:
Albums – September 15
Portrait Sessions – November 11
Greeting Cards & Postcards – November 15
Paintings – November 15
PhotoCards – December 1
Enlargements and Reorders – December 1
You are, of course, welcome to place any orders in the following 7 days after the deadline for a 50% rush charge. Any orders placed after that will not be delivered until after Christmas.
A little bit more about a few of the deadlines…
Albums: All album designs must be approved on or by September 15. If your album design has not been approved by that date, I will not guarantee delivery before Christmas, and your album also moves to the back of the queue.
Portrait sessions on or before November 11 will have guaranteed enlargement delivery before Christmas if the orders are placed by December 1. If you would like to order Christmas cards, you’ll obviously need to choose the photo quickly to make the November 15 deadline.

A friend of a friend posted the link to this “venue” and I thought I’d just pass the link on to any clients, or future clients, still looking for a place to hold their ceremony…

Senior season is starting back up again! This evening I had a bunch of fun shooting Stephanie at El Dorado Park (I wonder if they have monthly passes?). We had such beautiful light, and Stephanie carries herself very well– the results were a beautiful shoot!

Jim & Sue’s family shoot!

I’ve known Susan for a very long time. When I was around a year and a half old, my parents bought their first house and Sue’s family lived two doors down. Sue was “the” family babysitter until around the time she married Jim, and even then they watched us a few times when my parents went away for a weekend. I’ve photographed their kids before, but never the whole family!

Couldn’t resist bringing the IR camera along (no, I’m not obsessed, I’m still testing it out…)

While taking a few days of much-needed vacation at San Clemente State Park, I took a ton of photos in infrared of the beautiful eucalyptus trees growing there. I thought, why not share a couple?

Congratulations to Antoine and Angela who were married yesterday! Though the day ran a bit late, we had a wonderful time and a fabulous portrait session with the bride and groom. I worked with Annie Appel yesterday and had a great time working with such a talented shooter.
The ceremony and reception were both held at the City Club in the Wells Fargo building in downtown Los Angeles. It happens to be about a block away from the Walt Disney Concert Hall, so we were able to do the bride and groom portraits around the hall and in the garden upstairs!

This one of Angela was across the street from the Wells Fargo building, on the other side of Hope, where we photographed a few groups as well.

I hardly had a chance to pull my IR camera out– I was so excited to be photographing amazingly beautiful people in cool locations I almost forgot I had it! On the walk back I got a few of Angela.

The complete gallery of my favorites.

Ines organized two models for me to shoot today, Jenn and Tammy, as well as a MUA, Shelly, and a hair stylist, Roger. We spent a good portion of the day in the studio, and then went out to my favorite railway bridge! There are a BUNCH of photos coming up; I spent a ridiculous amount of time choosing them!
The shoot gave me time with pros to work on my studio lighting again– it’s been a while since I’ve had time to do that! The first two are of Jenn with a fabulous geisha theme.

We tried to make Tammy up as a grungy punk rocker, but she’s too pretty to look mean!

Then we went out to the railroad bridge with new looks for the girls…

Mohawk with orchids — all about the contrast!

And one of Shelly, the make-up artist with attitude!

Lifestyle Shoot for TEC

Yesterday I spent the morning at Life Bible Fellowship Church shooting some lifestyle imagery for Twin Engine Creative.
TEC is designing brochures and other informational sources for the church’s new small groups initiative, Arms Wide Open, and also for the church’s new capital campaign to update their facilities. The church wanted “reception-style” coverage between the three church services, so Jerry and Jonathan immediately thought of me!
The part of the facilities that WON’T be updated:

Exiting a church service:

And the children’s ministry during the service hosts games and Otterpops! I had some fun photographing a game of red rover.

Tyler and Christina shot Eric & Allison’s wedding this past Saturday while Ines and I were with Will & Sosi. While I was not there and don’t know much about the event yet, scanning the photos shows a pretty fun wedding. Plus, a bride that can send the following gift to her soon-to-be husband is pretty cool!

Eric (it was a day wedding and very bright!)

Allison

and the happy couple!

Both ceremony and reception took place at the Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach.

Wow!
We had a great wedding today, so packed with events I didn’t realize how tired I was until I got home! To give a general rundown of the day…
I arrived at Sosi’s house to photograph her getting ready, and Ines went to Will’s house to take some family shots. There might have been a slight problem with Sosi’s hair, but she decided to have a great day anyway. What a cool bride! We all loved Sosi’s hair exactly as it was, and it completely meshed with the style of her dress.

Will and his family came to Sosi’s house, were there was much dancing and a traditional Armenian ceremony. They also toasted with some very strong-smelling whiskey, and then there was more dancing– and food! A well-fed photographer is a happy photographer!
We then went to El Dorado Park to take the wedding party formals. Will and Sosi and their crew were pretty quick (especially after we had to wait in line almost 10 minutes to get into the park!) about the formals, and then we got down to the bride and groom shots. They are so in love and were exuding joy the entire day.

Will, ever so handsome!

After that we went to the ceremony and reception site, Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts. I’ve taken many portraits around the grounds of the center, but I’ve never photographed an event there before. This place is so cool, even the bathrooms look good.

Next, the ceremony. Their pastor performed a very moving, emotional ceremony. I hear a lot of ceremonies, and this one was so personalized, so perfect for Will & Sosi. After the ceremony, there were some more family photos, a few more photos with just Will & Sosi outside, and then on to the reception. There was much more food and dancing there, too!

I’m exhausted, but in a great way!
8/5 – Richard & Erika

Richard and Erika were married yesterday at the Westridge Golf Club in La Habra. Their ceremony had such beautiful light; it was at the perfect time of day.

Richard took his sunglasses off just long enough for Christina and I to get a few shots of him…

Erika was so amazingly beautiful! She’s always looked so nice when picking things up at the studio and was very pretty at the engagement shoot– but yesterday she looked amazing!

I had fun using the infrared D60 at their wedding– first wedding it’s seen! This shot of them is just past the gazebo, which overlooks the small valley below.

Formals were a riot! Erika has several nieces and nephews, Mahlea (I think I spelled that right) being the youngest. She was fascinated by my camera and kept leaving the formal group to come near it!

And we got to hang out with Greg again, from Unforgettable Entertainment
