Well, at least she let me take a few…after I spent 1/2 an hour doing her makeup. I’m truly impressed with my makeup abilities. It’d be really great if I could do that to myself!

These two are just so cute! I had a fun time this morning hanging out with them and, of course, photographing. It was spitting just a bit as I pulled up, but the rain stopped shortly after I arrived so we had some playtime outside as well. We ended up in Avery’s very purple bedroom singing along with Larry. You know, from VeggieTales. I think their mom, Emily, thought I was a little odd for actually knowing most of the words to the songs…

A few of Spencer:

And Avery:

I just found out about his photo essay from a friend and want to share it because it really is something the world needs to see.

Either I’ve just had amazingly nice clients lately or I’ve been doing some really great work… or maybe both!

Well, you’ve already seen the photos that I took in Vegas. Now, it’s time to see a few of the photos people took of me. I know I’ve asked some of clients to do some pretty weird things all in search of the perfect image. I just thought I’d prove that I will always do the same! Hmm, what’s she talking about? You’ll see soon!
But first, a few more of me with friends of mine:
Me with Vin (Thanks for the photo, Vin)

Me with Jennifer Bebb and Jen Rau (again, thanks for the photo, Vin)

Me with Danny W and Jen Rau, taken by the Boutwells

And now for the real fun stuff… Like I said, I’d do a lot if it meant catching a great photo. As you can see, that includes jumping in fountains at Caesar’s Palace. On a side note, they’ve got really lax security– between the four of us that jumped in, we were there for around 45 minutes and no one ever bugged us about it!
Thanks to Jamie Wexler, John Lyons and Lisa Rae for the photos… and a real big thanks to Cory Ann, Amy, and Kim for doing the crazy thing too!

Everybody gets free ice cream tomorrow… if you brave the long lines!
I was so excited yesterday to shoot Randi and Brian’s engagement photos! I first met Randi when we were in middle school; we were part of a group of students going to Europe for part of the summer break. We have spent the last ten years writing back and forth when we had time and have only seen each other once since the trip. So when I found out she just got engaged, I was so excited for her and happily shot her engagement photos!
Here are the images!

Steve and Carole were blessed this morning by my happy 7:30am face… but more blessed because the weather allowed us to shoot this morning! At about 7:26am this morning, I was just about to our location and the clouds started spitting on my windshield. Yup, dread started creeping into my stomach. Luckily, that’s all it was until long after the shoot when I was just about home it actually rained a bit.
In the meantime, we had fun capturing some great moments and getting to know each other!

Yesterday my mother and I finished painting the studio! Well, I might still paint another wall. I’m just thinking about it for now, but might do that later. Feeling a little wishy-washy about it…
But the majority of the work is finished! Mom finishing the second coat:

This is the reed texture wall:

And here’s my modern art. We finished hanging these frames and then I thought– hey, that looks pretty cool. (Reality: just waiting for some prints to arrive!)

We hung these new 20×30″ standouts yesterday as well. This was taken just after realizing that the holes in the back of the prints meant for hanging really weren’t exactly centered…

Now I’m just waiting for a lot of little things to be finished, like electrical outlets and moulding. Oh, and furniture!
I truly enjoy kids just doing their thing and playing at home. It’s so refreshing to see what they do to have fun, and how so many simple things are appealing. Plus they have really cool toys!
Maddux just turned 2 recently, and he is turning into such a cute little boy! I really couldn’t understand a word he was saying, but he’s sure talking a lot more than he used to… I kept turning to his parents with a puzzled look on my face, but they couldn’t even translate for me!
On to the images!

Jamie, Maddux’s mom, is a gifted pianist. Maybe Maddux is following in her steps?

Yes, dazed and confused… not really. I’ve noticed over the last year or so that kids are pretty much fascinated by my camera. When I’m really close to them and they happen to look straight into the lens, they can see the parts moving inside while I focus. The result is, dazed and confused!

This is my favorite image from the whole session. What a great family shot!

I guess these photos are proof that I find friends in odd places. Sandra is someone I “met” at Starbucks shortly after moving into my house. I should point out that the easy way to bribe me to do small tasks is to buy me a venti chai latte. At a previous job, I worked right next to a Starbucks and on our break we usually went over there. There was a Starbucks very near my parents’ old house as well. So when Mike and I bought our house, I was actually pretty relieved there wasn’t a Starbucks nearby (and by that I mean the closest one was almost 2 miles away). When it comes right down to it, I’m lazy and figured I wouldn’t drive that far just for a drink.
So what happens? We move in and within a month there’s a big sign on the corner announcing a Starbucks would soon be built there. Anyway, that’s where I met Sandra! So I guess I’m pretty happy they built this particular Starbucks!
We’ve been talking about setting up a shoot for months, and finally meshed our schedules and went to Seal Beach yesterday. For Sandra, the beach gives her a feeling of freedom.
