We’re back in California. Unfortunately I brought a little cold back with me… Until I have a chance to go through the many photos I took in Michigan (which won’t happen until I finish uploading a couple weddings), I’ll leave just this photo.

Tomorrow morning I’ll be waking up before sunrise…again… But at least it’s for a great reason! We’re off to Michigan for the rest of the week to celebrate the holidays with family. We’ll be staying at my grandparents’ newly renovated “cottage” on Lake Michigan in Holland.
As usual, I have no idea what kind of access to the internet I’ll have– I’m pretty sure none at the cottage. My business line will be forwarding to my cell phone, so you’re welcome to leave a message if you absolutely need to contact me!

Barbara + Manny – 11/18

Wedding
Barbara and Manny had a relaxed, carefree celebration of their wedding yesterday at a private residence. They have one of the greatest stories of how the met and fell in love and shared it with their guests with Manny’s “audiovisual spectacular” — the most hilarious slideshow I’ve ever seen at a wedding! Barbara fell in love with a wedding dress with red accents, so red became the wedding color. It set a beautiful tone for the rest of the decor.
Just to give you an idea of how fun this couple is, I took (several) shots of their bobble head.

And a special thanks to Devon and Mark– and their 1 month old son, Elliot– for referring this wedding! I shot Mark and Devon’s wedding two years ago, at this same location. Devon’s parents spent a lot of time readying their yard for Devon’s wedding at that time, and offered it to Barbara for her wedding as well!

We are selling our house! That’s right, we finally finished all the work and are selling it now. I took some photos for the realtor yesterday and thought I’d share them here.

Wedding
Rancho Las Lomas was a beautiful setting for Christy and Mike’s wedding yesterday! It was nice and cool and the brilliant colors of the location and Christy’s well-chosen decor really livened up the cloudy day. Christy told me she planned the entire wedding around a pair of Kate Spade shoes, and I now understand why– they’re peacock colored with a feather and all! Her color scheme was set around the peacock colors.

Christy and Mike wanted to involve his two children in their ceremony, and found a great way to do it with the sand ceremony

They cut Christy’s tank off so as to not mess her hair– so Christy made it into a superhero move by ripping her shirt off!

Some portraits… since it was so cloudy, it seemed like it was dark way earlier than we expected. We ended up using my new video light in almost all their portraits so we could see!

A couple dogs roam the grounds and decided to follow Mike and Christy during the portrait session– this one was pretty affectionate!

Perhaps a new concept, dancing at the table? The guests really like “Sweet Caroline”

Since I was only there for two days, I never left the resort. I just didn’t have time! I did take some pictures around the resort, mostly around sunrise. I had a little trouble sleeping and watched the sun rise both mornings. The first image is from Saturday morning, taken on my balcony. The rest of the images are from Sunday morning when I went for a little hike. I was up so early that the golf carts weren’t in use yet, so I had to do plenty of walking. You’ll see a photo of one of the drivers about halfway down, with the “golf cart” in the background. There is another image showing why the carts are necessary!

Court and Jen were married this past weekend in Cabo, at Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach. It was such an amazing wedding, and a gorgeous setting as well.
Court and Jen planned a whole week of activities for their guests, culminating in their sunset ceremony on the beach and a reception on the pool terrace just above the beach. Jen has been planning all the details of the wedding for a year and all her hard work was absolutely worth it!

Pretty Little Puppy

Tuesday morning Mike and I got up, were about to start working on more little house projects as we continue readying the house for listing, and got a big surprise! There was a very scared little puppy hiding at the back of our driveway. The poor little dog was skin and bones and just terrified. It took about a half hour of me sitting with him before he would let me pet him, and lots of turkey and cheese bribes before he moved out of the spider-infested area. We tried to get him into the backyard so he’d be safe until animal control came, but he wouldn’t budge. We did eventually just pick him up and bring him into the house because he was shivering outside.
It took animal control over six hours to come pick him up, and several nagging calls from both Mike and I. He was with us so long that I started calling him Bubbles, as I felt stupid calling him Little Puppy after awhile. I felt so bad when they took him away, but we just don’t have the time for another dog! If anyone’s interested, you can probably find out more information about him at www.seaaca.org
