We had such a great time photographing Bailey’s Senior photos down at the studio yesterday! I promised her a few before her viewing, so I hope everyone enjoys…

Beatrice and Alan’s wedding was absolutely beautiful! I’m so glad Greg Bumatay asked me to come along and second shoot for him, as this was not a wedding to miss!
We started with their portraits, first thing. Beatrice was a trooper, heading up the hill with us in heels so we could take some portraits among the blooming trees.

Then we went back down the hill to a very cool little bridge.

It’s always nice to have a Porsche around for a prop…

Then, we moved on to the church for some last minute touch ups before the ceremony.

I love seeing so many cameras at weddings!

There was quite a break between the wedding and reception, and when we arrived at the banquet room, the setup hadn’t really even begun yet. With no details to photograph, Greg and I decided we’d drive around for a while… and we ended up at Best Buy playing video games. Please excuse the crappy cell phone camera photos!

Other than Mario Kart about 10 years ago at my friends’ house, and a little bowling on a Wii recently, I’ve never played video games. We didn’t have any growing up, so this was an entirely new experience to me!

Not only did Alan sing a song to Beatrice during the ceremony– he made a repeat performance of a cool Chinese song at the reception!

Alan’s brother was truly excited to catch the garter!

I stress to all my clients on the importance of hiring videographers that match the style of their photographer– whether that’s me or not, this is a very important thing to consider.
What follows are a few images from yesterday’s wedding. (The good shots will come later, I promise!) I don’t know the videographers’ names because they pretended not to speak English when I tried to introduce myself. I say pretended, because I heard them speaking English a couple times later in the day.
You can see the coordinator not sure what to do after he refused to move during the ceremony

On the altar… I should probably mention the church rules said unmanned cameras only were allowed, unless the video people were up in the balcony with us.

And the second of four times he crossed in front of me during the first dance

What I will say, is that they not only shot in a very different style, they were quite rude. They nearly sat their cameras on Greg’s shoulder during the formal family photos, and they refused to follow the church’s rules for vendors. In fact, the coordinator had to come and pull the lead guy away during part of the ceremony because he planted himself in front of the singers, blocking the view of every single ceremony guest! They stepped in front of me multiple times, which I can normally work around– until they’d move in front of me again after I moved to a new spot.
I recommend a few different videographers, all of whom work well with me and who are great people. While I don’t require you to book them, I would recommend taking a careful look at other videographers to ensure the best product from both of us!

During the height of wedding season, I don’t really have time to develop new post processing methods. I played with textures for a little while this past fall, but didn’t really have time to explore the idea.
So, when better to explore them? Especially since I’m supposed to be doing more accounting today…

My new wedding website is finally live! We’re still working out a few kinks on the html version, for the time being it’s flash only.
Well, my website is definitely not ready. I was told it would be (a couple times already) and it’s not. I think they’re ignoring me on purpose since they already have my money. We’ll see, because the new live date is at today’s end (sound familiar?)
Another wedding photographer found this link the other day, and I thought I’d share it. I actually happen to love Canon in D, but this guy sure doesn’t!
Pachelbel rant
It’s not that I’ve been ignoring the blog… I just haven’t had much going on that I considered blog-worthy at the time. But, put all together, I kind of have a lot of news!
First, I’ve been madly getting images ready for my new Britney Photography website! It’s very exciting. At least, far more exciting than the other thing I’ve been madly doing– accounting. It should be launching tonight. I was promised it would launch by “day’s end.”
Next, we received an offer on our house! If all goes well, we’ll be out of here in a month.
I finally spent my Bed Beth & Beyond gift card from Christmas. I got an incredibly sharp knife that makes chopping veggies like onions and tomatoes so much easier than it used to be. I forgot to take a photo of that, so I’ll just show the other thing I bought, which is a blender. Yup, we’ve survived two and a half years without one, but finally decided to buy one. It was the same price as the chrome version, and they donated $10 to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. So we’ve got a cotten candy pink blender now… :)

Let’s see, what else? Oh, a certain someone showed up with a spontaneous gift the other day!

My worktable is pretty clean, for once. Just in time to move my office down to the studio, too. (Note there isn’t a photo of my actual desk.)

And a little bit of sad news… My favorite pair of shoes will be tossed as soon as I find a replacement pair. They’ve served me well, but didn’t quite make it through the San Antonio trip in tact.

Other than that… send your album orders in!
I’m hoping this post is going to work… I put together a slideshow with the highlights of the week. I’m not the kind of person that takes the camera to dinner, so the highlights are limited to the two shooting days and the night Chrissy, Tourine, and I went out shooting at night.

Well, I don’t think I’ve ever had a worse internet connection than the one at the Sheraton Gunter hotel in San Antonio. Between that and my email problems (hopefully now fixed) — it made for a frustrating week. I’m so glad I’m home, and that I didn’t get stuck there due to the midwest storm!
A few more images from a night shoot we did in and around the Alamo and the riverwalk, and also from the second shooting day on Saturday

And a few from my friend, Tammy

Okay, I messed something up. Pretty big, and I can’t fix it!
If you emailed me recently, please email again. All emails in the last two days have been deleted due to some server issues. I downloaded several inquiries about boudior photos or weddings this afternoon, but didn’t even have a chance to look at them until after today’s seminar ended. And now they’re gone…along with all other emails from the past two days.
So please, please! Email again.
We had about an hour of shooting during the Boutwell seminar yesterday. I managed to grab a few images (while keeping the other ten photographers in my group out of the shot) that I played with for a few moments…
