Sneak Peek + Yosemite
This past weekend I had the great pleasure of going up to gold country in Murphys to photograph Steve and Amanda’s wedding! I don’t have time just this moment to post their full wedding, so for now it’s just this sneak peek photo… and one from Yosemite.

I will be unavailable the last week of June and first week of July for everything but currently scheduled weddings and portraits.
The reason? My dad is having his next surgery, and it’s a big one! We’re hoping for him to get back a good range of motion and leave behind at least some of the pain he’s been going through for the last 18 months. This isn’t for the faint of heart, because this is what they’re doing right now (Tuesday morning):
1. they will remove the long pin from the bone and any
hardware still there holding that in place.
2. they will cut the femer and reposition it so that
it is more correct geometrically.
3. they will add a new small piece of hardware to keep
the bone in the correct configuration.
4. they will reposition muscles and tendons that have
shortened or been out of correct position for some
time.

This past Sunday I met up with Cathy and family to photograph their family portraits. Last time they did this, there weren’t so many people– so they needed an updated photo!

I second shot for Jen Rau on Saturday for a wedding a bit further away, in Del Mar. The details were so beautiful, and the church amazing!

Friday’s wedding…wow. It was such a beautiful day. I was struck by how well everyone knew each other and mingled, even though there were a lot of guests. The Clarke Estate is gorgeous and was a perfect setting for April and Clint’s relaxed wedding.
I really enjoyed the day. Everyone was laughing the whole way through– even during the ceremony. I have so many images of them laughing, and also plenty of images of Clint looking at April — you can just see the love in his eyes. I do feel honored that I was a part of their day.

Since it will be a few days before I’m able to get through (all of) Clint and April’s images, I thought I’d post a shot that I saw as I was downloading a few minutes ago.

Ivorn and Jared are still happily enjoying their honeymoon, and I want to surprise them with everything before they get home. They waited a few days to leave for their honeymoon, which I personally think is a wonderfully smart idea. Their album is going to be huge– topping out at 50 pages.

Ina and Dennis are amazing! With pretty much no direction from me, they move like models and have the greatest expressions. They laugh all the time and are a joy to photograph. It didn’t hurt that we were shooting at two of my favorite locations yesterday, Union Station and the Disney Concert Hall. The blends of retro and modern architecture really complete their own personalities.
There were plenty of pockets of funky light all over the place at Union Station

Late afternoon light is always beautiful, but streaming through the large ornate doors… it’s just wonderful!

I’ve thought on more than one occasion– I could easily do an entire session in the stairwell at the concert hall. all the red and stainless steel gives me so many ideas!

The pretty shot!

My fascination with parking meters continues

For some reason, this was my favorite shot of the day
