Isn’t he just the cutest! Today Mandell came to be photographed for one of my newest projects, and I was so happy his parents were both here– they’re a beautiful family.

I’m not really someone that gets into the holiday, but my dad carved this awesome pumpkin over the weekend and brought it into work for their contest, so I want to share it with everyone! We’ll actually be going out to dinner tonight at a very nice French restaurant… that’s our family tradition!

Beehive Hangers – The Smartest Picture Hangers Ever Invented
For all the others out there who are absolutely incapable of lining several frames up… there is hope!
It’s time for my semi-regular Fez posting. And what better time than now? These are all images taken since Monday, and all at times when the golden glow normally attributed to sunset shouldn’t exist. That’s the haze and smoke causing it… so sad that such a pretty look comes when so many are suffering.

I call this “Fez Confused”

my favorite portrait of him lately

but barely!

As you’ll note, that’s the sun. Or at least the part of the sun we can still see through the smoky sky! I might not be in any danger of fire where I’m located, but the haze covers most of Southern California. The satellite maps I’ve seen online show that a lot of the smoke has been heading out to the ocean right over top of the Long Beach area.
It has left everything orange. This is just a snap of the floor in my office.

v 1.0 was tested at Shawna and Scott’s wedding a few days ago, and I’m excited to try out v2.0 in the future!
My thoughts so far? It was a very fun way to get more photos of random guests. I have always struggled with getting enough photos of guests that aren’t in the bridal party or don’t dance, because photos of people just sitting at a table tend to be boring. Enter: the photobooth! It isn’t an actual booth, it’s open air, a backdrop, and a light… and everyone in the room can see it, so it’s easy to get your guests interested. Next time I do this, I’ll be bringing a wider seamless, so I can do more large groups… but I think I like most of the duo photos best.

Shawna and Scott had a beautiful wedding at Coyote Hills Country Club in Fullerton this past Friday. They organized a beautiful ceremony lit by candles and included such a touching unity candle ceremony including all their guests. Some other details such as the Cracker Jack favors and the photo wall with their Angels Stadium engagement photos personalized their event perfectly. And I was so excited they gave the go-ahead to try my newest thing, the guest photo booth!

We took a few portraits in the Boyle’s backyard before heading over to the venue.

The ceremony area in twilight is absolutely beautiful, but Jenny B Flower Design added to the overall ambience!

I love the look on Shawna’s face as her father is just about to give her away, and you could feel the emotion standing close to them.

During the ceremony, guests lit each other’s candles starting from the back, all the way to the front where Scott and Shawna lit their unity candle.

We shot their portraits in the dark, always a fun challenge!

Love the favors!

I’ve needed a new 11×14 sample album for a while, and I’ve finally gotten around to it!

The night before I left for Vancouver, Mike and I hung out with his brother and sister-in-law at their very cool downtown Long Beach loft. I originally went on a hard hat tour in the building because I thought it was so great, and now they’re living there. I have a mild case of jealousy, especially when we went to play pool with them that night!
First I grabbed a couple shots of their shy dog(s).

Poor Erin. She detests being photographed… too bad she married into a family with a photographer!

Shellee and Nick chose a matted album to display their images. I picked a charcoal frame and ebony liner to set off the brilliant colors of their day.

I arrived Monday around noon and after dumping my stuff and grabbing a quick bit to eat, took a walk around the neighborhood near the Lonsdale Quay. I arrived on a particularly gorgeous day, I must say!
The North Shore is a lovely area, with lots of trendy places to shop and eat, and also has a great view of downtown across the bay.

The market just below the hotel had a bunch of yummy stuff, including three different fruit vendors.

The view from my hotel room, looking slightly left (taken Friday morning)

You can see both of these gorgeous dilapidated buildings in the overall shot above, in the middle of the frame. I couldn’t get any closer than this because of a chain link fence, but the texture in these two buildings was incredible!

Later that night after our welcome dinner, I admired the view from my room again, this time looking right.

The next morning I woke up pretty early, and was treated to beautiful color in the sky! Mike made sure to correct me when I was pointing out the “fishing boats” to him– apparently they are tugboats and I just don’t know much about boating!

Later in the afternoon on Tuesday, I grabbed this during the shooting assignment.

Fast forward to Friday, because I didn’t have a chance to pick up my camera again until then! This was taken while on the ferry boat ride across the bay.

Danelle and Ral of Rad Studio picked me up and took me on the greatest tour of Vancouver! I can’t thank them enough and had an awesome day with them.

We stopped by a few locations frequented by none other than the Bebbs.

Danelle took this of me, and all the others of me in this post.

Ral and I probably looked like dorks walking across the street shooting each other!

We stopped in Ral and Danelle’s neighborhood on the way to the airport… I think they took my many hints that I love trees and fall color!

Thanks so much you guys for such an amazing day!
