This shoot came out so well mostly due to Shellee. She knows how to move, she’s got amazing style, and show found some great shooting locations!

This is what I spent yesterday doing:

Don’t worry, more are coming! I just have to wait for some of this cold medicine to wear off, because my vision doesn’t seem to want to keep the computer screen in one place. :)
This past Saturday was a beautiful day for Ivonne and Nart to tie the knot. They chose one of my favorite venues, and I was happy to incorporate Nart’s love of classic lines and architecture into the photographs. I enjoyed in particular how they tied in their Hispanic and Middle Eastern heritages into different aspects of the wedding– it was truly a day to unite their families.
How could I resist photographing a fluffy pink brush?

Rancho las Lomas has so many different tile patterns, and this one worked well with the rings.

Nart is so expressive! Here he is seeing Ivonne for the first time before their portrait session.

Wedding days are always tough for the kids, but Ivonne was pretty good at talking them into posing for the formal photographs.

This little guy was a riot! This is one of the many faces he had while walking up the aisle. At one point he had many of the wedding guests laughing, to which he replied in a sincerely disapproving voice, “I’m not funny!”

I’ve always enjoyed talking photos of mariachis– for one thing they don’t have music stands blocking the way! This group looks especially fitting considering the look of the estate.

Nart’s mother rarely left the dance floor! The DJ had his work cut out for him, mixing salsa and traditional Lebanese music like a pro.

Nart hired a vendor to set up a hookah bar outside for the guests

We hit the Fullerton Arboretum bright and early on Friday morning to get some great family shots for the Beesons. Once again, I was struck by what a happy baby Ava is… and how curious both of the kids are! We got some great shots and enjoyed the brisk morning.

I couldn’t resist including this… because it is just so typical! When kids don’t want to stay in once place, sometimes I’ll resort to drastic measures!

And this is most definitely not a great shot and probably would never make it to the mantle, but it makes me laugh.

One of my favorite things about fall is photographing this family. Many readers will recognize Ines from their weddings since she used to second shoot for me a lot! Dylan is getting so old; it’s strange for me to think that I knew his parents not only before they were married, but when Dylan wasn’t even around yet!

I’m writing this from my old MacBook Pro. Mike needs a new laptop, and this is more than sufficient… so he’s buying it off me. What does that mean? I just got home from buying my new MacBook Pro. I’m pretty excited of course, because I’m at least 50% nerd. What I’m not excited about is that I had to buy the thing at Best Buy because Apple refuses to build a real Apple Store closer than South Coast Plaza. I’m also not excited that I’m sitting here waiting for Leopard to install on the new machine, since it wasn’t pre-installed. Not to worry, I’m confident that in 1 hour and 33 minutes, I’ll be playing with the new pretty mbp. Yeah!

Seriously, how cool is this?

In other news, we had a lovely Thanksgiving. Both Mike’s family and mine celebrated the holiday together, and it was so nice to have both families together again.
Yesterday we want on a walk at the beach in the morning after I had a few sessions, then came home and went to work. I watched Love Actually while putting the Christmas tree up and other decorating, and Mike started building Fez a dog house. When Mike builds stuff, it tends to get out of hand. At one point he asked if I wanted Fez to have a skylight.
Later we had a Wii bowling tournament, where I proceeded to not only break my record, but beat Mike three times straight! Ha!
This has got to be one of the coolest sites I’ve seen in a long time… just another thing to be thankful for!
I’ve been gearing up for this announcement for a while! Britney Photography is now Turn Loose The Art!
Both portraits and weddings are now located at turnloosetheart.com, though the shopping cart, slideshows, and blog will remain where they are currently located.

In addition to this, while I am still looking for my new studio location, I have made a room at home into a dedicated studio for shooting small groups.
Most galleries from 2007 have been reactivated for the holidays! This means that, until December 1st, you can order prints and other products for friends and relatives. I know everyone is looking for easy and personal gifts, and this might be the best idea for you.

The codes you need to enter at the register are:
For the print special: HOL07PRINT
For the canvas special: HOL07CAN
I don’t really have anything major to post right now, but I do have lots of little things.
To whoever broke into my car Monday morning, you suck. I hope you left lots of fingerprints, because they’re running them right now! It really pisses me off that you’re using MY iPod with MY name engraved on the back, and that I’m going to get lost everywhere I go without my gps. But it pisses me off even more that you touched my car. In the interest that I have clients reading this, I will refrain from writing what I really think of you. Use your imagination.
There, the bad news is over.
The good news is that Mike rarely uses his iPod, so he said I can borrow his for a while. Isn’t he nice! So I formatted it and loaded it with my gym tunes and finally hit the gym again this morning with an iPod that no longer matches my very cool gym shoes. The other good news is that my birthday is coming up, and I now have a real reason to request an iPhone. To whoever knows my husband, you may now start laying hints that you know what I want for my birthday. Thanks in advance.
The other good news is that I’m emerging from the post wedding season workload frenzy! Christmas portraits are abounding, of course, but I’m pretty much caught up with everything. That means I might decide to clean my desk soon.
The studio search continues… the place I’ve been looking at fell through, so it’s back to the drawing board. In the meantime, I have a home studio set up again.
We’re also going to find Fez a friend after the first of the year. The first criteria is that the new one can’t be more than 50 lbs as an adult, but also can’t be too small or Fez might eat it.
What else? Oh, a new website is coming! That announcement should be coming soon.
Heather and Scott are a very sweet couple, and made a good Friday into a great one! We met them near their home by the circle in Orange and walked around a bit before heading off to the stables where Heather keeps her pony. And all along the way we enjoyed Heather’s infectious laugh as we joked around about how high heels are evil.
