Just a quick shot I took at Caryn and Warren’s wedding a couple weeks ago.

Welcome to the blog for Turn Loose the Art! This is the place where I post previews of all weddings and a lot of portrait sessions, and this is the place to find out what’s going on with the studio. Every great once and a while, I’ll even post some personal work. I usually update my travel plans on here as well. I hope you enjoy your viewing!
I shot for Jennifer S Rau Photography this past weekend at La Venta again. I have such a great time shooting for Jen, and I have to thank her having me up in Palos Verdes on such a ridiculously hot day; we at least had a lovely ocean breeze! Krista and Dean and their fun-loving guests relaxed and enjoyed a great day and excellent food.
I really like the bridesmaids’ bouquets of pink hyacinth.

A few tie adustments :)

Driving in that morning from Arizona, I was dreading the view from Palos Verdes. In the morning driving in I was disgusted by the smog covering the LA basin, but the view from La Venta was reasonably clear considering the heat!

Krista and her brother just before walking towards the ceremony

I nabbed this shot of Dean gazing after Krista during their portraits

I’ll be the first to admit… I fell in love with Lacey.

The view during the day is nice… but I’ve always been a sucker for La Venta at night.

Caryn and Warren’s slideshow from Verandas

I’ve been looking forward to Caryn and Warren’s wedding for a long time. First of all, not all my clients think my suggestion to do their engagement shoot under a freeway is “cool” like they do. Second of all, they are so awesome to be around! Their love is infectious. I think images explain that better than I can by typing here.

And, a few getting ready images to start off the post:

There’s a bit of a story behind this one. Sadly, I’m not psychic and wasn’t downstairs in the courtyard to catch what really happened, but there was a little bit of an accident. While getting ready at the Ayres Hotel someone placed an almost-empty champagne glass on the window sill, and someone else didn’t know that and backed up, sending a couple inches of mimosa out of the glass, dribbling over the ledge, and down into the courtyard… where lot of wedding guests were hanging out. Unfortunately, hotel security didn’t believe us when we said it was an accident, and actually made Caryn apologize to the bride of the wedding downstairs. Moral of the story? There’s a reason most hotel windows don’t open, or at least have screens!

And after all that, they kind of needed to open up the next bottle of champagne!

Cocktail details meet fishbowls:

Warren is a comfortable kind of guy

Paula at Petit Fleur did a great job on all the florals!

Caryn tried her signature Blueberry Mojito before walking down the stairs to get married

I’ve always said I like flare, but this one was unexpected even for me!

The happy couple is HUGE into sports. It’s a good thing the Lakers weren’t playing Saturday, because I’m reasonably sure there could have been an adjustment time to the ceremony. They decided to go with kobe beef sliders as a little homage. They were kinda messy.

Then on to the beach for some portraits

A quick portrait of Caryn while Desiree shot Warren:

I want to take this moment to send out a HUGE thanks to Desiree of dMdC for flying out from New Jersey to shoot with me! She took this great image of Warren:

Little PJ was entranced by the fish

There’s this OHIO song. Caryn and her Ohio friends went wild!

And the closing dance

Just a quick sneakpeek from yesterday at Caryn and Warren’s fabulous wedding at Verandas in Manhattan Beach

I’ve been taking a ton of images on my iPhone. I actually don’t have a point and shoot camera anymore, which is mostly okay since I rarely brought it anywhere with me. However, my phone is just about always on me, so it’s nice to just pull out when I want to take a photo of something. Here’s a few from the last couple months. I’ll post more as they come in!

For the past many years, I’ve wanted a pillow. It’s just one of those things I’ve never gotten around to buying, but I’ve always wanted it. For some reason the pillow popped into my head the other day and I was thinking I might go online and actually buy it this time, but much to my surprise, they changed it! It used to have the most adorable embroidered picture of Pooh on it, and now it just has the quote.
I still want it, but I’m sad I missed out on the old version.

The quote says, “if you live to be a hundred, i want to live to be a hundred minus one day, so i never have to live without you.”
