right around the corner…

These are pretty fun posts! I found out this past summer that I won 1st place in the Dancing category of the joint Brides Magazine/WPJA contest.
You can see the winning image in the Nov/Dec issue of Brides magazine (sample of the spread below)

on the wpja website.
here’s the wpja screenshot:

I don’t have a good excuse as to why I haven’t been posting. Well, not one that would make sense anyway! I am working, just not on blog worthy things. And most of my work right now is preparing for other things, so I’ve ignored this for a bit.
Here’s some stuff I’ve been pointing the iPhone at lately:

My camera has been doing some funky things lately, so the edge of this picture is all weird

and this one is even worse! (that’s dad, tori, and i)
this is the day I started considering color coding my hangars to my clothing!

never, ever tell people you don’t like clowns!

both times I’ve gone to Starbucks with Ray, they’ve really messed his name up:

So, uh… now that I’ve got 50+ apples, what do I do with them?

and a little self-portrait while hunting for the light

We went up north to go apple picking today! I didn’t take a ton of photos, but thought I’d share a few.

Then off to the creamery for some yummy ice cream. Thought my viewers might appreciate my spectacular sense of bad timing on occasion:

And the real shot:

The mini session date is November 22, location is the Seal Beach pier

We’re gearing up for some fun Halloween portraits this year in Howard Beach! I popped on over to test yesterday with Emma and Reagan.

This year I’ve had the honor of photographing weddings in Cabo San Lucas and Cancun, so I was thrilled when my friend Ray of Apertura asked me to second shoot for him in Puerta Vallarta. We shot at Casa China Blanca, a private villa about an hour from downtown; driving there was interesting and kind of made us feel like druglords going through all the armed security gates!
The villa was absolutely beautiful and Jerry and Jessica and all their guests were amazing and welcoming. The only thing not so welcoming was the spectacularly thick humidity.
We started off with Jessica getting ready

I love ceremonies that end like this:

a few portraits

You know it’s a good party when the MC starts serenading the waiters

first dance

and what happens when it’s too hot to dance? that’s right, dancing in the pool!

November 22 is the mini-session date this year. Times will be first come, first served. The location is Seal Beach by the pier.
Other holiday deadlines:
Christmas deadlines.
Albums: Final APPROVAL for albums wanted in time for Christmas delivery is November 1st. This means you’ll want to get your revision requests in by October 15.
Sessions: I will be unavailable in Southern California for any portrait sessions during the month of October. This means you want to jump on scheduling your family sessions during September, or schedule your November session NOW as they will fill up very quickly.
Mini-Sessions: What is a mini-session? It’s a chance for a shorter session if all you want is a good image for Christmas cards and a few prints to give as gifts. They will be priced at $75 for 20 minutes
Christmas cards: deadline is December 1st for delivery by Christmas. Please note, you may wish to order early if you want to send your cards earlier in the month.
Prints: December 1st
Rush Fee: There will be a 50% rush fee for all orders placed after the marked deadlines. Depending on the day you place your order, there is no guarantee it will come before Christmas.
I am offering six designs for Christmas cards this year (the front image is the front of the card, the back image is the inside of the card). When you order your cards, please let me know whether you prefer Style A, B, C, D, E, or F. Custom designs will be $100.
Tent cards use both the front and inside designs and are $72 for a set of 24 cards. Postcard style cards use only the front design and are $48 for a set of 24 cards. Both come with envelopes and are available in semigloss, linen, or watercolor finishes.
Was supposed to go apple picking today, but it looks like that will be next week instead. In the meantime, here’s a little space filler.
I’m here. I’m in New York till mid November! What better way to start it off then a walk up the Brooklyn Bridge?
